Graduating Students

We would like for you to be aware of your health insurance coverage options as you move on from Wake Forest. If you are not moving on to a job that offers health insurance coverage, there are several options for you:

Your current spring/summer coverage will insure you through July 31. Graduation in May doesn’t terminate your coverage; you are covered through July 31 (policy year end).

If you are graduating and have been enrolled in the BCBS of NC Student Blue plan offered through WFU for two consecutive semesters (fall 2015 and spring 2016), you are eligible for up to 6 months of extended coverage. The continuation application will be available July 1. If interested, you must apply and submit payment to BCBS of NC prior to your termination date (July 31). For this option, you may contact Student Blue at 800-579-8022 or beginning July 1.

In addition, most young adults can stay on their parent’s family plan until they turn 26 due to reforms in the Affordable Care Act. The Department of Health and Human Services has posted a Facebook page here to guide you through this option. The link offers information for students and parents. Discuss this option with your parents to see if it is right for you.

Download a flyer here created by the Department of Health and Human Services to explain insurance options and provide links to additional information.

Congratulations on your accomplishments!
